Best 8K TVs

8K TVs are still popping up on the radar screen, and they’re not quite mainstream yet. But you must be prepared for the new standard, and here is a list of the best 8K TV currently available on the market.

Samsung QE75Q950R 8K TV

Samsung’s current 8K TV, the Q950R, is available in a whole range of sizes, from a relatively compact (by 8K standards) 55in to a bewilderingly huge 98in. The company’s also been extremely aggressive on pricing, with the smallest model currently available with only a 50 percent premium over its flagship 4K sibling.

The Q950R is Samsung’s second-generation 8K model, but the updates over its Q900R predecessor are relatively minor, more or less boils down to wider viewing angles. In numerous countries, this update doesn’t generate a new model number, so what we call a Q950R in the UK, in the US or Australia is Q900R.

Still, the original Q900R was a very good TV and the Q950R continues the fine form. This is an exceptionally bright and punchy TV with supremely sharp edges and great three-dimensionality. 8K content is predictably astonishing, but the superb upscaling also ensures that 4K, HD, and even standard-def are just as good here as it is when viewed on the company’s best 4K models – and that’s no mean feat.

Sony KD-85ZG9 TV

By far the most expensive 8K TV, the Sony HDR is a true masterpiece. As such, you can expect 85 inches of pure viewing delight. This is largely thanks to the display’s 8K X-Reality Pro Processor and IMAX-enhanced X-Wide Viewing Angle which combine to deliver state-of-the-art sharpness and clarity.

his 85-inch Sony 8K TV, known as the ZG9 in the UK and Z9G in the US, offers an astonishingly-lifelike image and almost no downsides in terms of performance. Convincing blacks, superb motion control, outstanding upscaling – this TV excels in every area.

Sony’s X1 Ultimate chip and 8K X-Reality Pro-tech do a superb job of upscaling, adding detail that looks completely natural, ensuring an incredibly immersive performance with HD and 4K content.

The TV also has Acoustic Multi-Audio for unrivaled surround sound and impeccable audio immersion. Hook up the home console for fluid gameplay, or utilize the built-in smart TV functions to watch your favorite shows in stunning detail.

LG Z9 8K OLED

The LG OLED88Z9 is the first 8K OLED TV from this company. Its big screen ensures a dramatic experience with HDR. It’s superbly specified with a comprehensive smart platform, extensive features, and a big soundstage. Just don’t ask about the price…

LG judges its 8K TVs slightly differently from the competition, using a CM (contrast modulation) measurement that stresses the ability of individual pixels to distinguish clearly between each other, and certainly succeeds on that metric (all of its 8K TVs surpass 90% CM, despite only needing a 50% baseline) more than Samsung. This TV is available in 88-inch only.

As you’d expect, the Z9 comes fully loaded with all the features including state-of-the-art processing, HDMI 2.1 connections, Dolby Atmos, and the excellent webOS smart platform with a full house of AI assistants. The Z9 also includes an 8K upgrader box designed to keep this TV cutting edge for years to come – preserving your investment.
